Rear shackle lower bolt removal
I picked up a pair of aftermarket shakles to lift up the saggy rear end in my blazer. I just cant seem to get the lower bolts to budge. they're completely siezed. I sprayed them with liquid wrench, pounded on them with an extension and a hammer. I even took a breaker bar to them. I can get them to turn very slighly, but not a full revolution. I got the nuts off, but the bolts are a pain in the a$$. Any ideas on how I might be able get these out?? I had the truck on jack stands with a jack under the axle for support.

You might try leaving the jack stands under the axle and put a little bit of tension on the spring with a floor or bottle jack. Not enough to lift the axle off of the jack stand, but enough to take any pinch off of the bolt.

Oh, and another thing, I'm not too sure that a set of aftermarket shackles will realyy correct saggy springs. If your leaf springs are bad you might be better of buying a new set at a wrecking yard or having your old ones re-arc'd. Look in your yellow pages under automotive suspension shops.

Here's my two cents.
Jacking on the axle and removing the bolt doesn't sound correct to me. You should jack on the frame rail and as the body goes up, the pinch on the bolt will be relieved. The axle will be resting on the ground (with wheels attached, of course). But as Rick Norwood mentioned, shackle extensions will not solve your problem, they might temporarily but in the long run they will cause the springs to reverse arch quicker. Do youself a favor and get another set of springs, rearch your old springs or invest in some air shocks to level the truck out.

I already threw a set of gabriel hi jackers in the rear. They worked great, but I was looking to get a little more lift. Atleast another inch. I cant stand the way Blazers sqaut in the back. Very dissapointing with the ZR2 models. I was thinking, if I installed the shackels, the air shocks might prevent the leafs from stressing too much. I could be wrong though.
