How low is too low?
Some people may remember me, I posted a topic a month or two back asking a couple questions about 3rd gen. Camaros. Your replies were extremely helpful and I'm hoping you can help me again.
I've been searching, steadily, for about 2 months, and the only good cars that have come up are ones whose low prices scare me off. I'm wondering if I'm being paranoid and overestimating the worth of these cars, or if I'm completely right. For example, about a month ago a 3rd gen, can't remember which year, think it was a 91 or a 92, popped up in the paper for I believe 4500 canadian. I would've inquired about it, but it sounded too good to be true. It had rims, it was lowered, subs, etc, etc. So I figured for that low a price, theres gotta be something wrong with it, so I didn't bother phoning. Right now there's an 88 in the paper, with mags and tinted windows, supposedly in nice condition, for 3000. Again, I'm thinking this is too low and I haven't called yet. How much should I be looking to spend, really? I want one that is going to be in good mechanical shape and reliable, and anything with a price of lower than 5 grand canadian is scaring me away. Also, does anyone that lives in Canada, specifically BC, or even better on Vancouver Island (slim possibility, I know) that could help me figure out ways to find one? I was originally checking BuySell.com freuquently, but then I realized it was purely the mainland and to take a car over on the ferry and take two back would be like 200 bucks, and when there's no guarantee I'm even going to get a car, my parents don't seem to think it's worth it. I've also been looking at trader.ca, islandtrader.ca, and all the newspaper networks, as well as the newspapers I get, but nothing is coming up in my region. Is there a better way to go about this, or do I just have to be patient? Thanks a bunch in advance. |

There is no such thing as too low. Just make sure you know what youre getting. Actually LOOK at it first. Give your own inspection. But definately check them out.
I just picked up my '92 RS for $200. No not $2000. $200 Ive got connections of course, but thats not important. lol Sure it needs a lot of work. But what fun is a car if you cant put serious time into it? |
