Body Kit Questions

Hey everyone,
I was just wondering how hard it is to install a body kit yourself. I was also wondering how much a shop charges to have a body kit installed. and how many people have scraped the ground with a body kit on their car, if you're going slow enough can you spare yourself some damage. I'm just looking to get a body kit soon and I have a few questions. Any information is appriciated.

Thanks,
Nick

Re: Body Kit Questions

Painted and installed my own body kit myself (check the link in my sig yes its a neon shut up) as well as installed a kit on 04 Type s. But yea it takes 2 people and a few hours. Very easy tho removing front bumpers adding lips, side skirts not a problem they either bolt right up to the body or you use a sort of glue pen, then bolt it to the body.

Shops here charge about 150-200 bucks when I had asked.
As for scrapping its gonna happen its one of the drawbacks of having a body kit on your car. You wont be scrapping if your car is not slammed. Just be careful when you enter ur driveway and gas stations and such. Take it slow over train tracks and dont drive like an ass you'll be fine. Try to get a polyurathain bodykit it will handle the scrapes and bumps better.

Re: Body Kit Questions

thanks alot man, Yeah I have heard that polyurathain kits take scrapes better, but I also heard they are almost impossible to repair if damaged, while fiberglass just takes a few hours and some more paint

Re: Body Kit Questions

Don't buy cheap bodykits either, more than likely they won't fit for shit and it's just going to be one massive headache. Another reason why I absolutely detest those god awful things.

Re: Body Kit Questions

what is an average priced body kit? I have a '92 prelude and the kits I have seen are like $450-$700. The good ones are wings west, but I'm not a big fan of the wings west kits. The specific kit I want is the Spyder http://www.andysautosport.com/module...e%20Dimensions there it is something like $360 plus $40 for the gril inserts

Re: Body Kit Questions

I would find out if Ground Designs still sells their own kits. That is the company that first designed those kits. I've never heard any good things about the Andy's kits.
