I'm trying to remove the front bumper assembly (including upper plastic filler, bumper chrome, and lower air deflector) from my 2000 Tahoe - new body style. All 3 parts were ruined in a close encounter with the tow ball on a brand new Escalade (my 18 year old son's first accident!). Before I go to the junk yard, I want to make sure I have identified all the parts I need to replace.
At this point, I have removed several bolts, but the dang thing still is holding on tight. Any suggestions, or pointers to a schematic would be most appreciated. Indy Ed |

Couple of questions. I think there are four bolts each side for the new body style. Two upper and one each side of the bumper brace. Did you remove the front grille to access the two upper ? To keep it from binding on removal support the bumper with a jack or jack stands. Use two people to remove it evenly. Also disconnect your fog lights if you have any. And give your 18 year old something cheaper to drive. Been there done that.

Sounds like I need to remove the front grill and dig a little deeper....
Boy they know how to make things complicated. Hopefully the grill will be easier to remove than the bumper! Ed |
