i use my 94 metro 1.0 5 sp for paper routes, me and my wife drive it for about 4 hours every morning, with much of it idleing while we are delivering them, it idles normal after starting it but I think when It needs to run the fan to keep it cool it revs up a bit, is this normal or is something wrong, I checked the code fuse and got a 12 i think, it idles high enough so it seems to make it more difficult to put it in reverse if that makes sense, it idles high for about 10 seconds and then lowers a bit and then back to high idle, is it just keeping it self cool or is this fixable, how to you adjust the idle, thank you

Re: idle
When something draws power from the alternator, the engine can idle up to compensate for the added drag. I know that if my 98 1.0 is sitting at an idle, and I turn on my headlights, I can hear the difference in engine rpm as the car compensates for the added draw on the charging system . Could be that your fan is drawing enough power to cause the engine to idle up. As long as the engine idles and the car responds normally to accellerator input, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
