Help 96 Caravan dies on road, no start

Need help, am out of town.

96 Caravan 3.0 while doing 70 mph on highway, just quits. Will not start. Had Caravan towed to friends house. Where to start? What to check? Any and all suggestions and or help, will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ron

May not be as bad as you think. Pull the plugs out making the engine easy to turn over by hand, look down #1 to see when the engine is at TDC (top dead center) then loosen and pull out the distributor. The tags on the bottom may have sheared. You will need to remove it to inspect it anyway.

If the distributer proves to be OK then the timing belt should be the next item on the list to check!
