Brake upgrade

I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on what would be a good upgrade for the brakes on a 2000 gtp with 4 wheel disks? I just bought the car and don't really care for the feel. It has new brakes on it (stock). I just feel they need more foot pressure to stop then I am use to. I have a line on dual-piston LS1 calipers, brackets, bracket bolts, lines, 12" rotors, pads) that will fit on a Pontiac Grand Prix SE/GT/GTP 97-03 with (usually) no more modification for around 200.00. I'm tempted to get them. Any ideas? Thanks

Re: Brake upgrade

Was surfing and found this, please advise:

KVR Cross Drilled Brake Rotors

KVR Cross drilled rotors can provide up to 20% better stopping power, wet or dry. They operate 40% cooler than conventional rotors and allow hot exhaust gases and debris to escape which improves braking performance and rotor life. Cross drilled rotors offer more resistance to warping and will significantly reduce brake fade. These rotors feature stress relieved and chamfered holes. These are the ultimate street/strip rotors! They have a 90 day pro-rated warranty and come balanced and true. Cadmium coating available at extra cost in gold, silver or black colors. Note: Pricing is per rotor. Not recommended for competition use.

Part Number Description Price

KVR55130CD 97-02 Grand Prix Front Cross Drilled Rotor (each) 74.99

KVR55114CD 97-02 Grand Prix Rear Cross Drilled Rotor (each) -90.99

KVRCAD Optional Cadmium Coating (per rotor) -14.00

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KVR Carbon Fiber Metallic Brake Pads

KVR Carbon metallic brake pads will give you the added stopping power your car needs. These pads are constucted of woven carbon metallic and compound (will not break up like other brands), require no warm up time, provide nice firm short stops and are rotor friendly. KVR pads are kevlar insulated, quiet and have low amounts of brake dust. You will be very happy with their performance and they are the best priced on the market.

Part Number Description Price

KVRM7574 97-02 Grand Prix Front Pads -48.99

KVRM7387 97-02 Grand Prix Rear Pads -39.99

And remember I'm only PREshopping, I do not have the car yet. Maybe this comming summer I will get it, with luck. Will be first car as well, I have the will power but maybe not the money.

My idea is to buy the car, park it and work on it like a hobby for a year plus, then when it's fixxed up I'll drive it.

You can add just the front 12in brakes and you would need the GM Brackets from the Oldsmobile Intrigue. They will help but since you are still using the single piston calipers they wount stop much better then stock. The best way to go is with the 12in rotors and the 98 up F-body aluminum dual-piston calipers, they will really increase the stopping power of our cars.Click Here for instructions
