first, welcome to the past z car forum.

now, i dont think there are common problems with these cars except stay clear or the 89-90's, depending on where you live. they are believed to have valvetrain issues in their earlier stages of production. otherwise, there isnt really any common problems. problems occur from these cars not being taking care of. TT owners will tell you that turbos go out about 150,000 miles give or take. change timing belts every 60,000 miles. if it is well taken care of and not beat to hell the engine will last 200k or better, tranny will last just as long. its hard to find one in prestine condition but if you do they are worth it. good luck...anymore specific questions just ask away. we are all here to help.

Re: Problem???

Alternators was the common problem. Other than that front bumpers from getting curb checked, and some models of the 300ZX (Z32) had some powersteering pump leaks develop over 100k miles. Also some have been known to have a gas smell on start up, this could be from a leaky line or a loose fitting, and lastly throttle body cleanings, should be done rounghly every 10k miles. Otherwise you get a rough idle. Over all nothing major with the car, its a great car.

1via: have you had a problem with your alternator since you put that optima battery in. i have yellow top in mine and i was wondering if the better battery makes it easier on the alternator so it doesnt have to do as much work because the battery holds so much more juice in it. i dont know, just a thought.

Re: Problem???

Most of my problems went away.. but my damn PS pump kept leaking onto my alt. remember? I had to change it again! I love lifetime warranties! Other than that! I definately reccommend an OPTIMA! Wonderful batteries!

Re: Problem???

yeah you are 1via. anyways, if you take care of her, she will take care of you. that is the main thing. once you start abusing you, she will get pissed and start breaking down.

My biggest problem is keeping the fingerprints off it and women out of it. other than that, finding a road good enough to open'er up once in awhile, just to make sure everything is working OK. Yea right.

Al: "That wasn't speeding officer, it was just a diagnostic."

Cop: "At 190 mph?"

Al: "..."

Al: "um...a very complete diagnostic."

Cop: "On what?!"

Al: "Uh...the spoiler?"

i wonder what a cop would say if you said you were doing a testing your car and he clocked you at 200mph. im almost betting that 6 out of 10 cops would ask you to pop the hood.

oh yeah. i remember. yeah i highly recommend the optima battery. i drive my z for a couple of weeks without it and as soon as i put the optima battery in it idled smoother, at ran smoother, and seemed to pull harder. great battery. worth every penny. i would spend the money again if i had too.

Talking about officers, this really happened to me...
I was pulled over for speeding ..officer asked if I knew how fast I was going, and of course I told him no...he said 87MPH...I said holly shit, I didn't think that guy was going that fast...The officer looked at me and said what you talking about...I told him I was just trying to stay a safe distance from the guy behind me....He looked at my then started laughing and told to go on my way but slow down...I thanked he and went on my way

Albert

What the fuck does this have to do with this thread?
