I replaced the water pump in my wife's 4 cylinder 99 Grand Am, which was a job in itself!!! Everything is back in place, tightened up, heat is working fine, no leaks. There is a major hesitation now in the car. It starts up fine, but sounds like it wants to stall, even stalls here and there. I noticed when following the book, one of the last steps was to bleed the air, the book showed me how to do this on a V-6 but not a 4 cylinder. Anyone have any suggestions? If you have any helpful information please let me know.

Re: Water Pump 99 Grand Am, 4 cylinder
If your heat is working I don't think this has anything to do with the change in the water pump. You could have other problems. Do you have a service engine soon light? If you do take it to Autozone and see what the code is and post again. If you don't you may need to retrace your steps and make sure you didn't knock a wire loose while you were changing the pump. Also check to make sure the Mass air flow sensor is clean this can cause hesitation. There are other items that could cause hesitation and they are often hard to track down.

Thanks, I took the car into the shop, they say it is related to the timing chain not being in time.
