gas milage
I've finally done my tune-up, so I've been checking my gas milage from station to station, and I was wondering what kind of results you guys get. What I do is use my trip clock to see how many miles I go between fillups , and observe how much I have to fill up with. To overcome filling differences between pumps, I keep filling until the pump turns off after a second. Here are 2 of my results:
328 miles/ 17.1 gal -> 19.18 miles/gal 321 miles/ 17.7 gal -> 18.24 miles/gal Both of those readings had a pretty even mix of highway/city driving. The second one was also hit with standstill idling for over 2 hours at the Sarnia/ Port Huron border in Canada. Are these good? I remember someone getting ~22-24 mpg. |

Re: gas milage
I would say that those are good numbers fore normal driving, I constantly check my mileage and on a manual 2wd jimmy i get about 18 mpg, with an about 50/50 city/highway mix, i have been able to get 22 mpg but it requires to much grandpa driving, good luck.

99 blazer
Well those are very respectible numbers....I just slapped a cap and rotor on after 151K on my 4.3L blazer....
Driving mostly highway...I get a consistent 20-21 mpg.....I am pleased as she is getting old... The truck is all stock, and maintained and up-to-date. Religious oil changes, PCV, air filters etc.....all contribute a small bit to the big picture.... |

Re: gas milage
I'm getting around 22 mpg with over 165,000 miles, (bought it in 2000 with only 48K) on my 95 but it is only a 2WD. It would probably be better if I didn't have such a hilly drive to work, 28 mi. Just put on some 31X10.5's for the winter, although it is a taller tire it probably takes more hp to turn them thus cancelling out any advantages. I think drilling the holes in my air-box, the 1.6 rocker arms and moving my IAT seem to help the mpg.

Re: gas milage
I get between 22-24mpg with my 1995 Blazer 4x4 on the highway in the summer.
In the winter my mileage can drop up to 2-3MPG seeing the cold air is making the engine run richer.

Re: gas milage
would 31X10.5 fit on stock blazers? i thought that 30X9.5 was the biggest you can go. im running 235/75/R15 on there now. i want a bigger tire for the snow.i live in mountains in northern new jersey, i need them

Re: gas milage
You don't need a bigger tire for snow.
Wide tires actually lesson the grip in snow seeing you are spreading the trucks weigh over a bigger area. Stick with the P235/75R15's, they are perfect for your truck.

Re: gas milage
I like the size of the zr2 wheels. Somethimes our stock wheels seem too small and donuty. Too bad you need a lift to get those in nice.
I also installed the hypertech programming. I got the unit off ebay, and I've been more than happy with it. I've been checking the gas milage to make sure I'm not losing anything and though I'm not done experimenting with it on or off, it has made my jimmy 100% more enjoyable to drive. |
