1.9HO..how much power does it make?

I was just wondering...this crazy bastard ( ) is thinking of slapping a turbo on his new found daily driver.


I would like to know what kind of power the 1.9HO with a 5 speed makes stock. Thanks

Stock there about 110 for the HO.
The 1G CFI is 89 and the newer 1.9 SEFI is 88.
That all at the crank, at the wheel's it would be about 90whp.
Just a FYI all 1G HO's are 5 speeds.

Oh wait, if you have a 91, then it's not a 1.9HO. They stopped making HO's in 90. You have a 1.9 SEFI, 88hp crank, 75whp.

Odd...says 1.9 HO on the valve cover....eh. oh well..all I know is its weak compared to what I'm use to of course most cars are.

If your Escort is a 91lx, then it does'nt have a "1.9HO" motor. 90 is the last year of a true HO motor. They were only availible in the GT or EXP trims, not lx.
A 91lx will have the 1.9 SEFI motor, 88hp stock. A 90 GT will have a 1.9 HO motor, 110hp stock.

Jeff, I'm not argue'n with you, I just said what the valve cover said. Thanks for the info too. I wish I had an EXP at times...but they're far and few between anymore. My "brother"(very good friend) Dave had one in highschool with just the 2 seats and no rear seat. Is that normal?

Yep, EXP's only had 2 front seat's stock.
If your valve cover really say's "HO", and it's a 91, take a pic of it and post it. You have a very (very) rare or custom motor.

Yeah, I'll have to double check it...just could be me going The car was my sisters and if I posted a pic...I'd be ashamed to have the engine bay looking like it does.(to cold up here to wash the thing)
