which do you think would be cheaper?

I know your first thought is my name and yes i am a new kid to skylines but i have wanted to get into them for a while now... so heres what i was really going to say! and i want to get into drifting.

Buying a 20,000 already U.S. legalized '93' R32 GT-S or having a 10,000 '96' r33 GT-S ship from japan then legalized. It's only 10,000 cause i know some people. Which do you think would be cheaper?
Which do you think is the better deal?

Re: which do you think would be cheaper?

Well, you'll be spending 10g's on the car from Japan, then you'll have to ship it over to US and pay taxes and what not. After the car makes it to the states you'll be paying Motorex at least $16,000.00 to make the car street legal (can't remember but Motorex is having problems legalizing post 96 models. Someone on here will know for sure). Now if you just plan on using the car as a race/show then I suppose plan B is the way to go. But if you want your Skyline to be street legal then buy the GTS for 20gs.

Ha ha ha ha..........the people you know suck. 10 grand for a 1996 GTS????? ha ha ha ha..............ha ha ha I know for a fact that you could get that car for like $4000.00-5,000.00 maybe less here in Japan. Drift Kid????? 15??? (years old??) Sounds like your just another dreamer......... Do you even know the difference between the GTS, GTS-T, and the GTR????? But like Zaphod Beeblebrox said.....you will have to pay to ship it and then pay bonds and tariffs and then pay motorex about 16,000.00 to convert it................. I know, I have a Skyline(see picture at right)
and I have done extensive research on this..................well good luck I'd say for car and conversion and everything.....you should have at least $30,000.00 tucked away.........and that's only for a GTS...........a GTS-T 1996 would run you around maybe $8,000.00 or $9,000.00.........and a GTR.........could be like $15,000-20,000........you know I'm being approximate......

lol yeah Skyline69 does have a point. Nissan Skylines are a dime a dozen in Japan. Kinda like the Toyota Camry is in the US. You can def buy one for less than 10gs. In any case, dreamer or not, if you have the money buy the already street legal GT-S. You can always mod it. Just be sure that the GT-S is legit. There are a lot of scams out there when it comes to US street legal Skylines.

Re: which do you think would be cheaper?

sold my R33 for 1000 bucks. :-) Kid, if you want to get a drift car and you are in the states, don't get a fucking skyline. yeah a skyline is a "skyline"... oohhhh ahhhh a skyline... wow, but who really gives a fuck. Pick a different car man. Shit, for 20 grand. Just spend 4 or five G's and leave the rest for the parts you're going to need.

If youre in the states and you are looking for a drift car, a skyline is NOT the car you want. Hell a skyline isn't even the car most people want for drifting here in Japan....

my3rdskyline is absolutely right ...............there are hardly any people who drift skylines.......actually a popular drift car I always see is the 180sx...........hey and guess what...........The 240sx in the states is basically the same car.......

i think you mean a hachiroku or "8-6". I don't know much about them but I think it's the same car/same name as a toyota levin, and YES they are VERY popular because they are light and cheap. just enough power to drift and very well balanced. again. I'm very uneducated. some google searching for AE86, Hachiroku and levin should help you out

Re: which do you think would be cheaper?

Lol, this took a strange turn of events.

For a drift car, something Rear-Wheel Drive, obviously. Maybe, a silvia (If you could import it) or 240^^ or Treuno.

As for the skyline, if your into drifting, no this isn't the car for you.

Glad you are actually researching, though, instead of saying "It says skyline, it must be fast".....

We need more of you...
