Fiberglass body kits no good?

What do you think about this? Would it be wise to purchase a front bumper made of fiberglass, or will you just be in world of trouble once you hit a pothole?

Also, should you lower your car first and then get a body kit, or the other way around?

First of all...welcome to AF. No problems with fiberglass front bumpers even though they can crack kinda easy. But definitley lower your car first and then body kit. I've seen so many people driving around with body kits and not lowered and it looks like ass.

i have a fiberglass blk widow kit and my car is fine when i hit potholes...its lowered about 2 inches too...it just hits really hard when you hit a dip or pothole but it survives....i cracked the lip awhile back when it got caught on some thing..and the screws on the side ripped off..but that was partially my fault...anyway...theres notihng wrong with fiberglass...its really not a big deal unless your streets are really bad...and theyre pretty bad here in SA but mine stays cool...hope i could help...oh yeah...welcome...

Talking fiberglass kits

If your really afraid of your kit breaking or anything with potholes or any other stray bumps and crap....then you can always custom to your body kit with sheet metal lining the bottom of the kit. It WILL weigh your car down, but lets face it.....if your gettin a body kit.....more then likely your not really in it for the race.....unless you WANT to mess up your kit.

Re: fiberglass kits

And exactly how much do you expect a two inch wide, 2 or 3mm thick strip of aluminum to weigh? It'll weight you down in the same way bringing a can of soda in the car will.

durability

If you are worried about durability of the fiberglass because it does crack and that costs a lot to fix, get a polyurethane kit. Its a thousand times more durable. The only problem is the paint doesn't stick too well but if you follow proper painting instructions you shouldn't have too much trouble.
