94 astro u-joints

Has any one replaced their own u-joints? I did the rear one but the front ones are different. Whats up with the plastic pins? Thanks

You can take a propane torch and hold it there to melt the plasitc out. It's not just a pin, it runs around the u-joint. They are a PITA. That's a factory u-joint if it's still got the plasic there. BTW, I would never replace just one u-joint, they are cheap, replace them both. Lastly, make sure you mark the drivesahft and pinion so that you get them back in the same way they cam out. Vibrations can happen if you get them back in out of phase.

Thanks for the info. BTW I would never replace just 1 u-joint either!
