89 Legend Will Not Crank...HELP !!!

Hello, I am planning on buying my neighbors 1989 (not 86) Acura Legend V6 (A Hot Rod in 4 doors) I test drove it last week and it was a real monster to say the least; very receptive to the touch of the pedal! He left town for the Holiday this weekend and tossed me the keys in case it
needed to be moved (per the construction in the neighborhood ...wink-wink) Well I went to crank it and the Battery was flat DEAD, (I noticed that some wiseguy has left the lights on) I jumped it with my truck and everything lit up fine but no starter cranking, clicking or any amp draw noticed from the lights. I took the battery out and into my
garage and chargerd it overnight. I replaced the battery the next
morning and once again, everything lights up fine but still no starter
click, no tickity-tick, no turnover, no fart no noise or anything. I
checked all the fuses inside and out and none checked bad. I went as
far as to jump the solenoid feed wire (black w/white stripe) to the
positive side of the battery in which case it did crank just fine (and
properly fast, but would not fire [Spark? Injectors? Both?]) letting
me know that at least the starter is not the evil child under the
hood.
I am fairly well adept at working with machinery. I've owned and
repaired many (is this P.C. here?) American V8's and straight-6's till I injured myself and blew out the L3-L4 disc in my back and had 2 surgeries including a fusion. Our MuscleCars sadly all were sold to pay the (quack) Doctors.

So I am on a limited budget & since it is not yet my car.(But HOT DOG, having driven that car and feeling the sleeper power that I wish to reawake and bother a few more 5.0's, if you know what I mean...) Well most of my knowledge base goes back to the sixties and seventies (more to the American MuscleCar Era) when things were much "simpler'" (No Gas or NO Fire), and I have yet to buy this Acura, although I REALLY do want the beast (and the price is real good.)

Is there a lock out switch somewhere that I have overlooked, or a
relay that may have gone belly up on me. Perhaps a reset button on the computer needing to be pushed due to the battery having gone flat dead???

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Heck, I might even mow your lawn for you... ;-|. Please send me your thoughts and experiences.

So Sorry for the length here...
Thank you in advance.

Ok,
I will do my best to help, but it sounds like you have done most of the obvious. One thing I can tell you is that if you get it to crank by bypassing the selinoid, but no starting, then you must make sure and listen for the fuel pump. The Legend will not start (I.E. push start) without having enough juice to start the computer and the fuel pump will run for about 1/2 second when in the run position, so that may be why it didn't start. You can always have a "friend" hold on to a sparkplug wire to check for spark... To reset the computer, simply disconnect the neg batt terminal and leave it disconnected for at least 10 min. When you re-connect and turn the ignition on you should hear that pump engage, as well as clicking under the hood. If you are driving a 4 door, you can also look under the passenger seat for a little computer light that will flash if the computer detects any errors. The codes (flash sequence) are posted in any repair manual (the flash indicator in the coupe is under the passenger side footmat). The computer stores any error data and transmits the code to the indicator, and that damn thing monitors a lot of stuff, so this may help. Good luck w. your project. That 24V V-6 is sweet and smooth- I love it.

I have noticed that I have to turn the steering wheel to the left or right when turning the key. Seems crazy but it works.
