Whats better....

just wondering ehat u guys think,

do u think that if like you are a bit fat it is best to strip the fat first nand gain the muscle later then u would get that cut look. Or does working out and cardio have the same effect. Cos like you would always have the fat there if you didnt lose it upfront.

Re: Whats better....

build muscle first, the fat will help with this it has a lot of nutrients, etc stored in it and you will build muscle faster with it than without it. You should be doing the cardio for the whole time tho, burn it off SLOWLY, if you lose it quick then you wont have much energy and working out will be very hard.

Re: Whats better....

Yeah right, if that was true, fat people wouldn't BE fat...

IMO, you need to lose the fat first, and then work out.

Re: Whats better....

You will lose fat as a result of working out, well from cardio, working out is fairly anerobic.

Re: Whats better....

nah you need cardio, takes almost 4000 calories to burn off 1 lb of fat, lifting for an hour burns mabe 4-500 if you bust ass/depending on your size, You HAVE to eat right, and you HAVE to do some sort of cardio to lose weight if your metablism isnt naturally high

You lose very little fat by working out. You need to diet to lose the fat, then work out hard and eat as much as you can. That way the energy isnt converted to fat, but to muscle. You cant diet as your working out because you have no energy. Do you see what I am saying? Btw, this is all in my opinion and is not to be taken as truth. Everyone has different DNA, so this doesn't always work, but from experience, this works decently.

Re: Whats better....

Why not do it in stages? Lose 1/3 of your target weight, put 2kg back on in muscle, lose another 1/3 etc. Focus on both in stages should give great results.

listen to him^^ it's EXTREMELY hard to gain a lot of muscle without taken in a lot of calories. if your taking in a lot of calories your not going to loose fat. you can get strong (lift and eat a ton) and then loose the fat but when you cut cals your going to loose muscle too. loose fat then add the muscle. thats what i'm doing right now, once i loose 5lbs, i'll be 225 and then i'm going to add on about 15lbs of muscle over the next 6 months. don't listen to leadfootGTP, he said he ways 275, needless to say he probably doesn't have a six pac.

Re: Whats better....

make sure when your cutting weight keep the protein intake high (1.5g-2g per pound of bodyweight) to eliminate a lot of muscle loss from the get go.

weather or not i have a six pack has very little to do with what i know about fitness and nutrition. As an all conference football player with all-area honerable mention as a junior, and as a 16 year old with a 325 bench, 400+ squat, and 500+ deadlift (and ive never taken any dietary supplements to help that, not even protien) i do know a thing or two about fitness.

you can do it either way, fat first muscle second, muscle first fat second, ive heard of and seen people do both. The most important part is being dedicated to your diet and exercise program

Re: Whats better....

im not impressed...

and he said he wants that "cut look" and i've never seen a 275lb guy with a six pack, unless your name is Ron Coleman or Jay Cutler. and i never said you didn't know how to lift.
