88-91 Engine Question

My friend claims that he had a Honda Civic 88-91 Si Engine installed into his civic(88-91).
now, when I looked at his engine, it dosn't say notting about it being Si, or SOHC, or DOHC,
can anybody tell me how I can tell if he's lying or tellin the truth>??>

Check the engine model number... its below the radiator line near the distributor (left side of engine block)...

"It's right below the distributor to the right a little on a 2"x2" or so square block" - 90CRXZCSi

US Si engine would be a d16a, not sure for Canada..

The only way that you would be able to tell is the engine code. If it's a DOHC...you should be able to notice by the two cams and the spark plugs running in the middle of the camshafts. On a SOHC, the spark plugs are in the back unless its a VTEC model then they are in the front.

if its an SI it would say MPFI, if its a DX it would say PGM-FI on the throttle body by the firewall.

no, they both use and say PGM-FI, on the DX throttlebody it says DUAL POINT, and is rounded. on the Si throttlebody it say MULTI POINT, and is more tube shaped( CRX HF has the same as Si)

Sorry but your wrong, my cool 1.5 DX clearly states PGM-FI on the TB, and my friends SI states MPFI on his.
