rec vehicle in progress

Haven't posted much lately, but I have been working on something different. This is the recent re-release camper from AMT. It is no where near finished, but I wanted to show you all. This will be part of a pit area diorama that will include the ramp truck car hauler, and a late model stock car as you would have seen at your local track in the mid '70's. The truck chassis shown will not be used, it is only for mock up. I am not sure what kit I will use for the chassis, but I am leaning toward a '64 Chevy as shown or a '60 Chevy. I wanted that gaudy look that was so popular in the late '60's, so the interior of the camper is done in paneling and a really putrid green that I mixed. I removed the molded in bed detail and made new sheets and a blanket from tissue and white glue. The bed is painted with Windsor Newton oils, I need better pics of it though. I have tons to do.

Re: rec vehicle in progress

Very cool. I've been hoping to see one of these built up.
The bedding looks slept in, and the colors are very period correct.
I picked this kit up too. Mainly for the racers wedge though.

May I suggest 409 to clean that dirty kitchen area.
I agree with everyone else, those colors really capture the look of the '70s. The bed detailing looks superb, now all you need is a pillow.

I got a little more work done. The outside is weathered. The bed is finished. The roof is almost finished, I used silver Rub-n-Buff on the roof to simulate a weathered tin roof. I had to make some tail-lights for the rear end, they came out of the spare parts box. Lots of work to do.

This is a very cool and very different project. I love it! Your interior is great, the bed is very convincing. Magnificent.
