Week End Wonder: Flat Rat

I started this kit at 11:00 on saturday and I plan to have it done by Sunday night. The kit is the revell 29' Ford Road Rat. I am going to use the roadster version of the 3 in 1kit. alot of the parts will also come frome the 40' Ford including the flat head engine. Some things to come are: 6 shooter radiator cap, iron cross pedals, and flat red flames. The set this kit apart from others I decided to remove the fenders.

The body parts have been painted with krylon ultra flat black:

The interior has been painted with white primer

The wheels and engine were panted with krylon cherry red

What do you think?

Re: Week End Wonder: Flat Rat

looks like its gonna be one sick rat rod, thats for sure. What color you have in mind for the body/interior? Do you plan on having it the flat white/black combo?

Re: Week End Wonder: Flat Rat

Can't wait to see this one finished!! To let you know, you could have done away with the fenders without cutting!! Most of these rats just use the rails and body!

Re: Week End Wonder: Flat Rat

Thanks guys. I have some bad news though, When I was painting the body parts I kinda had an accident and ruined them so i wll need a new kit and I will not be done in time. So taking ol' dude suggestion i might just have it sit on the frame rails. The paint will be flat black on the out side and white seats. However everything els is painted, assemble, and weathered. The engine has custom intakes built of the original air cleaners and dry brush weathering. Thered paint is also darker in person it looks more like the wheels.

Here is one of my favorite parts: the radiator , beacause of the sixx shooter radiator cap.

I brushed a charcoal pastel to meake them look worn I also made it a little darker on the divers side for some more realism.

The suspension was weathered in the same mannere as the ingie was.

The wheels were also done like the engine.

Re: Week End Wonder: Flat Rat

Looks really good, too bad it's not done tonight. I wanted to see it before I went to bed! I really like the intakes, they look awesome and just right for this application. A note on taking pics - try to take them from a little further away. If the objects are smaller, oh well, at least they will be clear, and you can always crop the pic to look better. I'm only saying this because your work looks great, and we'd love to see it more clearly!

Re: Week End Wonder: Flat Rat

Finally got the kit so I could start on this agian. This time I decided to lay it on the frame, shorten and lower the bed, and chop the windshield. Later I am going to rebuild the floor of the bed.
