Does anyone know what the speed limiter (governor) is set at on a 98 eclipse gs?
Hello all,
I was on the highway a couple of months ago and wanted to see what my GS could pull off so I punched it but after I got to around 110-112 my car just wouldn't go any faster. I didn't run out of RPM range because I was only at 4,000. Can anyone explain? ~Squirr3l

130mph.........answered many times. It's because that is the limit of the stock "h" rated tires. Mitsu avoided lawsuits by doing that.

the gst is limited at 130 i think the gs is limited at 116. but the speed limiter does shift sometimes so its not very exact. you may have hit your speed limiter. did it accelarate smoothly to 112 or did it slow down a lot before it got there?

i've hit 144 twice in my gs. i have also hit 130 i don't kno how many times

 If it has tits or tires it will give you problems, but atleast you can fix the problems with the tires  2007 Trailblazer - stock 97 GS-T -> lots of mods 98 GS ->total loss, now being parted out

Yeah it accelerated really smoothly up untill then. Infact, my friend and I were the ones going down the highway. (we were kinda racing I guess you could say. He has a '94 Acura Integra LS) My car pulled really strong right up untill then and then it just kinda topped out. But like I said the rpms were only at like 4 grand.

In the summer on my half an hour drive home on some long stright highway almost every night at I did 125+. It really just does not want to go any faster then that(but its a gs).

i hit 144 also in my rs when i had it, i still had plenty of rpms to go but no power to get there

mine does the same thing at about 110 it doesnt have any thing left,i dont know how 1 gs(theres) can do 130+ but mine and this other guys only does 110-115,,if someone knows please let me know
