setting your timing

can someone help me to set my timing.im in the process of replacing my timing chain guides and im not too sure on how to set my timing????

what engine do you have?
Do you have a chiltons?
Did you already tear into this without one?

Well, I know on my SR there are marks on the chain that lines up with the gears. Silver for the Cam and Gold for the Crank. Put the engine and Cam at TDC. If you dont know what those are, read up on this before touching it again. You dont want the car to be out of time when you start it. Go get a Haynes manual, you will save money in the long run.
