Exhaust

Ok about exhaust here. I just bought a muffler from summit racing so i think i am set there, what i am think about it getting a header now before i install my muffler. i was thinking stainless steel over oated but i don't know which one is better, also will a header for a 97-99 2.2 fit a 2000 2.2? ok so lets say i get my header on and stuff and go with all new pipe. should i run a cat. converter. right now i have a catco and a fat catz resinator. i think i will go without a rez. but shouldi go with a cat? hmm so lost. my muffler is 2.5 inlet so i am going to run 2.5 pipe but lost about a cat or not and need help with the header question.

Re: Exhaust

just helpful words of advice... if your going to do a full exhaust, you might as well replace everything from the header back... Header..new cat.. new O2 sensor...and the rest of piping and muffler... but one of the most important things people don't do it is.. you should get new Motor mounts.. upper and lower... if you don't you will over time break your headers and exhaust setup...

Yep, that's right. That's why the factory exhaust has the flexpipe section in it.

Re: Exhaust

Well... I do not know where you live. Here in NY you need to have a cat to pass a NYS inspection unless you know someone who's willen to risk gettin their inspectors license taken away, you need one. The best alternative is gettin a high flow cat. So i think you should get one... Aftermarket motor mounts have by far less play than the OEM mounts and will reduce your engine rocking around in your engine bay... Your current factory exhuast has flex pipe which can move around and not effect anything.. ( when you change your oil filter, the thing all the oil falls on and looks like mesh is the flex part).. WHen running new headers, you almost 100% of the time will be losing this in order to compensate for the longer headers... without the new mounts... all the moving your engine does will tear all your new stuff apart... if you need anymore info or Q just PM me

take it easy i have seen posts that are very help to people on detailed info from crj -

also just because someones car cosmetically isnt covered with gaudy shit an doesnt look the car its supposed be- or sticker charged- doesnt mean they dont know anything or have something hiding under the hood - i personally like the sleeper look of having a car that is nice an clean but a beast under the hood - hell i even too the twin turbo off my doors cause nobody wanted to race me when i had them on - now that they are off - people just think its a stock non moded stealth with a 3.0 Liter DSM Engine - But Hey Everyone Has Their Own Style - Ya Know?
I am not looking for an agument or a battle here or u to get pissed an hate me i am just throwing my in

Re: Exhaust

sleepers are considered cars or trucks that look like they cannot do shit but are really fast. like s10's with 350's those are neat. I don't know if i would cosider a stealth a "sleeper"

Re: Exhaust

Well i am sorry you feel that way... while viewing your profile i am surprised that your info corrisponds to that of cavalierguy2000... so i will draw my own conclusion here that you are his G/F and dosn't like having someone tell him what is fact and what will help him out in the long run... and you are here causing trouble... Look at the top of the page here hunny.... I don't see a post made into an Important here by anyone else except Kustmace.... If you also search, i have made other how to's.... While i'm not trying to be a hardass.... there are others on here by far worse than me. I've been harassed when i was a newbie aswell. So figure it as passing the love around... And if anyone trys the i don't have enough money trick... i have no sympathy for you... saving works wonders... alot of us do it. And i can back all of my posts on how to and the info i give.... except my own opinon comments... and if you do want peoples opionions, don't ask for them.....

.......and yes no cat will give you more HP.... but if you do not burn up all your fuel... your O2 sensor will throw a check engine light because there is no cat to convert the unburned fuels to completion...

well u tell me that a car that comes stock with 325 whp an 317 lb ft of torque is slow an cant handle because with the wieght dif from for say a wrx that i would be able to out handle because my friend had one a 2002 awd turbo - he flipped his on a back road with loose gravel an i had not a problem with havin limited slip tranfer-constant awd an awd over the speeds of 60 mph which ur goin 60 soon as u put the peddle to the floor goin from 1st to 2nd.. i dont mean to be cocky but obviously u dont have a idea of what these cars are capable of - i am not sayin that they are the best cars in the world -just sayin when u take the tags off they become sleepers by themselves cause they looks like a stock plain jane n/a 6cyl. stealth cause u cant hid cause of the quad exhaust on them separates them from the 4cyl. with only 2 exhaust exits on one side...

Re: Exhaust

while i do think CRJ is a ricer, he does seem to know his shit when it comes to cars. Although ive never heard of anyone needing new engine mounts for a full exhaust. But engine mounts have theirs goods with their bads. They will put a few extra HP to the wheels and keep the engine more stable, but the car will shake more like a drag car than a street car. Its a cavalier, your either gonna have performance or a nice drive. Its hard to get a balance.

As for the sleeper, A stealth R/T TT with no badges is a huge sleeper. I would prolly try and race him because he has no badges and then end up getting my ass handed to me. And im a sleeper too.

I'm working on looseing that title...finally got all my pin striping off of my car...... the mounts are really only needed when your loosing your flex pipe... other wise... its a fine tuning device really and yes the car does vibrate more than usual.. Its somthing you got to live with..

While i don't doubt you that you know what you are doing... But obviously you have only been around for 2 days and haven't seen my many other posts i have put up here... So you really cannot judge people this quickly... While you also need to make sense when you spell... Since is referring to a date in the past... sense is a meaning conveyed or intended... now your proper use of english points me in a direction of you being well.... still in grade school.... but all your talk hasn't showed me you know anything either.... What the difference b/w the EGR valve and the PCV valve... They have some things in common
