Question good snow tires?

Just looking to see if anyone has a recommendation for tires that are good in the snow and are still suited for dry road conditions? I've got AT tires on now but I'm thinking of replacing them this winter. Thanks in advance

Re: good snow tires?

Bridgestone Dueller HP........very good but $$$
they are mud+snow etc.
for the best snow tire....bridgestone BLizzak or the yokohama clone......i have these tires and they are unstopable in the snow!!! are good in teh rain and dry...but wear fast on the pavment.
go to tirerack.com they have forums and comparisons +prices etc.
hope this helps

Just for informative purposes, how much snow do you get in your area of California?

Re: good snow tires?

He either travels north, is planning on moving, or wants snow tires for an area that doesnt get much if any snow.

Either way, I recommend Michelin Artic Alpine for a "winter only" tire.

Re: good snow tires?

I would just get a good set of SUV tires.

You don't need snow tires on a 4x4 SUV.

Especially in California.

Actualy California is home and I guess thats what it says in my profile but I'm stationed in Cheyenne Wyoming and as you can imagine we get quite a bit of snow here. I plan on doing lots of driving in Colorado this winter for the snow boarding and just generaly doing a lot of playing around in the snow. Thanks all for the recommendations on tires I'll take a look at some of those tires.

Re: good snow tires?

If you want some really cheap and excellent quality tires, go to Wallmart.

I installed their All Trac SUV tires and they have been nothing but amazing and they cost me 150 less.

Same warranty and everything.

Re: good snow tires?

Oh man yea, amazing value.

Also, I god the upgraded All Terrain ones with the heavier tread.

But they are only for the winter and do have a slight hum to them on the highway.

I'd very highly recommmend Firestone Destinations LE's .. I've been through two makes of tires on a 2000 LT trying to get wet traction and these tires are absolutely amazing on wet or snow covered roads. I just wish I'd found them before I wasted money on Dunlop GT's and another set of the stock Uniroyal Laredo's ...

I bought them at the www.TireRack.com for $70 a piece ...

Re: good snow tires?

Good option unless you drive an Explorer.

Sorry, just couldn't let that one by.

The thing is Firestone has been under so much scrutiny, you can bet their tires are a notch above all others at this point in time.
