Unhappy Throttle Housing Unit - 2000 328

I have a 2000 328 Coupe. In the course of it's 71,000 miles to date, I have had to replace the 'throttle housing unit' twice now. Once under warrantly in late 2001 and now again in Nov 2004. The symptoms one sees to start are the following warning lights: "EML" light comes on, "Service Engine soon" light comes on and the traction control light comes on all simultaneously. The operating symptoms are: car runs rough, will not go over 40-45 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal does virtually nothing. Since this car has been built at the factory, this is obviously the third iteration of this part having to be placed in the vehicle: 1)factory installation, 2) October of 2001 after @18,000 miles and now 3) again at 71,000 miles. Anyone out there having this same problem ?? BMW claims it is a 'wear and tear' item and this is not unusual but I'm curious how many more of us are experiencing this ?

Re: Throttle Housing Unit - 2000 328

Hmmm that seems very odd. I have never heard of something like this happening at such a low mile mark. The replacement at 18,000 miles and now again at 71,000 miles is ridiculous, as something must be wrong somewhere in your car. Has there been any other major repairs/upgrades since you have owned the car? This is certainly not "wear and tear."

there is a bulletin to check the harness to that part also for faulty crimps and bad connections.
