STALLING Problems.....89 Z-24

Can anyone tell me if they've had this problem before. My cavy is an automatic. when i put it in reverse, or any drive gear it stalls or seems like it chokes itself out and won't go unless you give it gas. when its in park or neutral, it runs fine and seems like nothing is wrong. is it time for a tune up or is it something more serious. Just seems like maybe the clutch because when i come to a stop in gear, it bounces and feels like it'll stall unless i put it in P or N. So i thought it felt like the clutch isn't fully engaged?? But i've heard about a chip that could be a problem. anyways these are all thoughts and not forsure so if this has happened to you. please let me know what the problem was...i am getting very frustrated. thanks in advance

k dude ... i think i know your problem.... it sounds like your TCC has crapped out on you- its very common thing... you can try just unpluggin it because the problem is the tcc is located inside the trans. u have to get into the valve body an if u dont know what your doin u dont want to even start to get involved in take that apart - its better to just unplug it ... u can unplugg it an it will not do any damage -matter of fact thats what everyone does since it costs so much even though the part only costs $27.79 ACDELCO Part#24227792 - but by the time all the labor is done price is pretty hefty- so i would just try unpluggin it if the problem persists-

Doe it do this ? After the car has been driven 20-30 minutes, when slowing down or coming to a complete stop it feels as if the transmission is staying engaged, rather than coasting. If you shut the car off then immediately restart, it will stall when shifting into gear. After being shut down for 10 minutes or so, it works again. Also happens but not all the time- once it reaches this point it auto shifts very roughly.

Good Luck Man !
hope i helped ya out

Re: STALLING Problems.....89 Z-24

But it doesn't do it until i have drivin around for an hour or so, then i park it for half an hour when it won't shift or engage, and after that, its fine for the rest of the night. really don't understand it. but its good to see someone trying to help out..43 views and no one else has a reason..haha. anyways thanks dude. i'll check tomorrow morn to see if you replied. ttyl

Re: STALLING Problems.....89 Z-24

when you unplug that you loose your fuel milage not that it is that great any why but it will suffer by a few miles. if you are talking about symtems that i think you are then it shouldnt be a matter of time as much as a matter of speed what was happening to me in my beretta was that it was shifting into OD and when i whould come to a stop it woulnd shift out what i did to fix it was slip it into neutral and use the gas alittle (not good for it)
but it sounds like 93 R/T has this one under control just remember if you care about fuel milage it will suffer
