Auto Transmission Performance Rebuilders?

okay, so i've got this 92 spirit that i'm working on this winter (not much else to do...)

i'm either going to fix it and drive it, or fix it and sell it. if i keep it, eventually performance parts will find their way onto it.

the biggest problem i have with the car is this- it's an automatic. i kill them. all of them, except for the largest, heaviest truck transmissions. this one i already have to force myself to baby... it's got over 110k on the odometer, and i learned to drive on it... let me tell you, i was NOT easy on it while i was learning to drive.

I'm pondering having the transmission rebuilt, and overbuilt, by a "performance" shop. I know that this is common for the "detroit iron" old-school heavy automatics, and for some higher-end performance cars, but i've never heard of one being done on a little 4-banger family car.

I need help locating shops that might be willing to undertake this "unusual" idea. I may have some other auto's in mind later, so this may not be a one-time deal either.

anyone have any ideas? i can go pretty much anywhere in the US or canada, and I am willing to barter, or if some garage mechanic feels up to the task, well, we'll work something out!

thanks.
