timing
when setting the #1 cylinder to TDC i align the cam sprocket timing mark TDC and the crankshaft puley mark to TDC to get TDC on #1 n 3 cylinder correct? i just dont know how to tell when #1 is TDC

i dont do it that way, some people will disagree with this method but its always worked for me. Take out your sparkplug in #1 and stick a really long extention down gently into the cylinder. Turn the crank until the extention is all the way up and just as it starts to come down stop. crank it back to the highest it will go. Bam TDC.
