h22 swap question

is the transmission and ECU of the 94 accord vtec 2.2l compatable with an h22 engine block? or do I need to order a new transmission and ECU when I do the swap? A REAL MECHANIC'S ANSWER WOULD BE MOST APPRECIATED.

Thanks!

Re: h22 swap question

in my case i ve done the swap twice cuz i crashed the first one. the second time i tryed to leave a stock accord exhaust on. tip on h series engines exhaust makes a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiggg ass diff. the car drove like crap. vtec would kick in and then die out. i could hardly make to my red line. lost to stock 5.0 rolling. raced another one after putting my exhaust on and beat him by six cars. also if u can get the lsd tranny. i dont have it but wish i did. my friend has and he comes out the hole at 5000 rpm and hooks. i launch at 2000 rpm and sometimes still have problems hooking up. i still beat him but thats mainly cuz he cant drive. my mods are cold air intake, dc sports headers, aem cam gears, msd 6al, msd coil and wires, no cat, and my ecu is chiped, also got stage 3 clutch and 8 lb flywheel. also all you guys out there who are trying to do swaps the best thing to do is to be patience i know its hard cuz i still dont. anyways been talking too much peace

Re: h22 swap question

do you trust the ebay stores to provide quality engines? How is $2,400 for a complete swap (motor, tranny, ecu, all wires and wire harnesses) this is a "low milage" engine (actual miles not given)

Re: h22 swap question

Most of the JDM spec engines on ebay have less than 40k miles. I have heard that in Japan after an engine has 40k miles on it you have to replace it, so I guess we get all their left overs.

Re: Re: h22 swap question

I'd buy a motor from a good online site before I bought one from e-bay. Try www.passwordjdm.com , www.hmotorsonline.com

Yeah it's something about the age of the car, that they have to do a crazy emissions test, tune-up and such that costs them a ton of $ so they just get rid of the cars and buy new ones.

Re: h22 swap question

I bought an JDM h22 w/ lsd tranny for my prelude off e-bay and it is one of the better purchases i have made. The engine is very strong, high compression in all cylinders and the tranny works very well. I emailed the guy a few times and haggled on the price. I got everything including 1 piece headlight assemblies and ecu with shipping for $3300 canadian (live in Canada). In the city i live in a shop wanted $2000 canadian for just the engine and nothing else (no ecu, no tranny) and the engine had 120,000 kms on it.
I did have small stupid problems like there was a small hole in oil pan going inwards that i welded and had to swap in TPS from my old engine (it was broken on h22). Good luck.
