New Compressor

Is the Paasche D500 a good compressor? I will be using only for airbrushing and the reason I am asking is because I can get one for a little less than the price on dixieart.
The airbrush I will be using is a Badger Crescendo 175
I did a search and could not find anything on this specific compressor.

What about the Badger WHIRLWIND II MODEL 80-2? How would those two compare?

I've seen the D500 in person and to tell you the truth it looks like it was a toy. I have to agree with most people that airbrush, airbrush compressors are not good at all. I'd say go to Sears and get a craftsman 3 gallon 150 PSI Compressor for only 150 like me I have also seen some cheap compressors that come with tanks at Walmart.

If you can stand the noice get yourself a little garage compressor. I have one with a 24 litre tank and 1½ hp motor. It makes one hell of a noice but the tank will last for a lot of painting without any noice at all. I live in a apartment and the neighbours still haven't checked in with any complaints about it. I usually fill it in daytime and then it last the following evening when I do most of my modeling. Here in Sweden they cost about $100-150 compared to a silent one that is about 3-4 times more expensive. It's all about what you think is worth spending your hard earned money on. I would get me a silent one if I could afford it...well maybe in the future there will be one.

My compressor Atlantis cost only 40$* and works quite well. No air compression gauge and reduction valve but the pressure is "more less" constant what is enough quality for modeling.

The only thing about those big compressors is that they are twice the price of the d500 (that's how cheap I can get the d500 for) and they are a lot louder (maybe?).
ImolaEK --> How loud was the d500 you saw? And for a beginner, do you think it would be worth it? Then maybe later I can upgrade to a more robust compressor

If you are a beginner modeler you dont need an airbrush nor a compressor.

I only got to see it in the storage room of my school. Never got to turn it on though since my teacher didn't allow me My first compressor is the one i currently have; a Craftsman 3 Gal 150psi Compressor. Its not all that loud and once its filled and running your airbrush at low PSI it will last for a lonngg while! Tell you the truth, don't buy an expensive airbrush for your first airbrush. My first airbrush was an Iwata Eclipse HP-BCS ($120) and it only lasted 1 month before i clogged it up. I had to buy another one of it, now that i learned how it functions. So if i was you i would put the Badger away and get a cheaper one

I used my D500 for years with no problems, using an Aztek airbrush. It jiggles around a bit which isn't a big deal. The pulsing problem I always read about never bothered me. It isn't very loud but it's not something I'd use at night when people are asleep in the house. Mine was used in an apartment for a while.

I'd suggest one with a tank if you can put up with a little noise. Nothing is quieter than a tank full of air! The D500 will be running the entire time you're airbrushing, think about it.

I also use a Badger Crescendo 175T but never used it with the D500 compressor since I bought an 80 gallon compressor for my garage.

I've got one up in the shop in Michigan, and waiting for another one down here. They run for minute or two usually, but they are extremely useful when using high CFM tools like, die grinders, drills, impact wrenches, sanders, spray guns, and other tools.

After X-Mas when I set up my shop, Im going to have a larger compressor, (either two 30's, one 60, or an 80gal) in another rooms, run the hose through ceiling and wall and have hardlines with "outlets" every 6 feet going around the room.
