Moment of silence...

I need everyone to bow their heads.

At 10:05pm last night on my way home from work, I lost control of my Prelude and went through about 15 trees, rolling over I don't even know how many times, then finally landing damn near in a creek. I managed to climb out the window and get up the hill (somehow) and, AMAZINGLY enough, I don't have a scratch on me.

I was stopped at a stop light on US 42 waiting to turn onto gunpowder heading south east to go home. Light turned green and I started down gunpowder just like I had hundreds of times before. You can't really tell by the map, but there's a soft, sweeping up hill right hand turn shortly after you turn onto gunpowder. Right before that turn, I noticed some water running across the road...it was ~28 degrees last night...was it water?...was it ice?...I dunno, but what happened next, I'll never forget and never figure out, but I know it had something to do with that water/ice. I was accelerating around the turn doing about 40-45, I think (the speed limit is 35...gone around that turn going WAY faster before), if that, even, and when I turned the wheel, the car unexplicably understeered for a second, then the driver's side tires bit HARD, then lost traction. Then I was sideways and knew I was fucked. I looked to my left and saw the trees...lots of them...I put my arms in front of my face (kinda like a boxer) and leaned toward the center of the car. Then I heard sounds I've never heard before and never want to hear again...the sound of my car flying through the trees...just sounded so wrong. When the car hit the trees on the driver's side door, I slammed into the door with the left side of my back (since I was kinda turned to my right covering my face). When it stopped, I smelled smells I've never smelled before...and never want to again. I climbed out the window and somehow managed to climb out of the ravine I was in.

As I climbed, I looked back at the car this one last time...sitting there in the trees...I don't really remember what it looked like...but I remember knowing that it was totalled. It didn't even have a real license plate on it yet. I hadn't even made a PAYMENT on it yet. Would have had it a mere 3 weeks tomorrow.

All in all, my thanksgiving was the worst day of my life. Not only did I have to work, but I'm quite sure I totalled my car. On the bright side, I don't have a scratch on me. I can personally vouch for Honda's safety. The cop and all the spectators were amazed that I survived at all, let alone survived without a scratch.

What happened?

I bowed my head like you said but then all I could see was my keyboard.

Sorry, just trying to cheer you up.

Anyway, congrats on being a lucky SOB and surviving. That sucks about the car but atleast you walked away from it. And don't worry about it too much, you'll get over it, get another car and have a hell of a story to tell.

Sorry LLZ.

Re: Moment of silence...

That should be a poem. But good thing you're alright and you didn't have any passangers or harmed anyeone else....besides nature, poor trees So...what did you tell the cops when they wrote the report? Insurance got back to you yet? Hopefully you can work on that car if not find a new Prelude. I hope there was a lesson learned after all this.

If there is such a thing as a good accident you had it, thank God. Now all you have to do is deal with the insurance comp. and no doubt get a rate hike. Blood suckin mothers.

Re: Moment of silence...

Scary shit man, thank god your not a parapeligic, airbags deploy? were u wearing your Safety Belt? Could you of turned into the spin and prevented colliding with trees, but then again car crashes are instant flash type shit, good thing it wasnt your Zed that would be a tragedy, I had a close call in my Z32 racing a mustang haha, took a upward turn, and hit a patch of sand fishtailing like crazy, so bad i broke my amplifier, i almost hit a tree but fought with the steering wheel and corrected it, another time I was on my way home from school, i did this route every night, went up my street which is up a hill, was bein a idiot and downshifted fishtailing sideways and i tapped a gigantic Oak tree with my front bumper

Re: Moment of silence...

Well you learned a valueble leason about FWDs, they understeer BADLY. I am sure if you hit ice too it wouldnt have helped matters. Tip of advice for the next FF you get, when it starts to understeer like that let off the gas, dont hit the brakes the tires will regain some traction and continue on the intended line.

BTW good thing your ok, next time get a VOLVO! just flip it over pull it out of the trees and start it up and drive home.

I don't know what's going on with the insurance yet. I'll find out Monday or Tuesday. It will get paid off. I'm not worried about that. I had every kind of insurance imaginable. But I'm not going to get any money for it. I hadn't even made a payment on it yet. They'll pay it off, then I'll be back at square one...again...but this time I have an accident on my insurance and I don't know what the hell this is going to do to my credit...so I'm really fucking thrilled.

If they try to fuck with me, I swear I'll go off...not only did I get beat up, but I lost my fucking car too. I didn't hit anyone, I didn't hurt anyone, I didn't damage anyone else's property (except for the trees...oh well...no one cares about them), I wasn't drunk, I wasn't speeding and I didn't get issued a citation for anything. If they STILL try to screw me, I'll hunt them down...and I'm NOT kidding.

It wasn't the car. I was going between 85 and 90 up that same exact road a few days prior...that car handles like a DREAM. I actually remember everything quite vividly. It only understeered for a split second, then the tires grabbed and the ass end came around. I tried to counter steer it, but yea right. There was no saving it. Period. I've done plenty of crazy shit in my 300 and my old Celica including saving a couple spins...this was far beyond my control. Far beyond anyone's control. Mario Andretti would have been issued the same fate.

Airbags, yes. Safety belt, yes. I'll wear my safety belt if I'm fucking parked...I don't care. I've always worn it and I always will. I am LIVING PROOF for those of you out there that are too stubborn/ignorant/stupid...whatever and refuse to wear them. THEY SAVE LIVES! There is ABSOLUTELY NO reason NOT to wear one. I don't care what excuse you have or how your ex-fiancee's second uncle's step cousin would have possibly died if he had been wearing his when he crashed his Buick back in 1812. Unrestrained passenger = Organ donor. If you want more proof, ask my highschool friend Travis Alig about this. He wasn't wearing one...he'll say the same thing I am. I guarantee it. There is one big problem with this, though. He is dead. His friend's truck rolled and landed on him back when I was in highschool. Everyone else in the truck are alive right now...because they were wearing their seat belts.

If you were here, I would kick your fucking face in, and I'm not exaggerating. You would bleed for that.

It was a Honda...it was also a great car...it was also MY car. My cars are like my children. Don't FUCK with my children, you piece of shit.

Re: Moment of silence...

i agree with you llz... people need to stop ragging on honda's. sure there are tons of young punks out there that don't even deserve(sp?) to drive a golf cart that are putting huge ass wings and fart cans on their civics/integra's/preludes that their parents bought for them... they are not 'ricer' cars... no car is a 'ricer' car until the person that owns it starts doing bad bad things to it... the truth is... they are awesome, amazing cars... the reason there are so many ricers out there is because the cars are such good platforms to start with... they are virtually bulletproof in their stock form, huge aftermarket support, and really quite easy to work on... 4 bangers so they're really really good on gas.

i suppose the point i'm eventually rambling to is that people who mindlessly and uneducately rag relentlessly on honda's just because of their make, are just as bad as the people messing up the cars. if you have a preticular beef with one specific car, take it out with the owner... don't go around bashing every single person's honda just to get back at them. and if i were there, i would help you llz... i hate people who bash hondas
