h22 swap to 91 4dr

alright. so i know people have started this thread numberous times. i've checked, and searched, and read for about 2 months now, and i STILL have questions. i'm so lost.

i just want to know if the H22 swap is obtainable for a decent price in a manual 91 civic, 4 door. whats involved? whats needed? any modification to the body -- ie moving the firewall?

is this a worthwhile swap? i've found LOTS of info on the swap for post-91 civics, and for preludes and such, AND for CRX's... but nothing on a 4 door 91 civic (its a DX, incase anyone was wondering.)

PLEASE help me. everyone else just tells me to search, and i've done lots of it and i cant find the answers i'm looking for. thanks!

Re: h22 swap to 91 4dr

im not to familier with the swap. but i think they make an adapter plate to run a b-series tranny.so the swap will go olot smoother than running the h22 tranny.its expenssive tho.the swap is possible.the motor is strong but heavy.i wouldnt go that rout.if your gonna make it a drag car than sure y not.but if u like road than dont do it.u need to run the obd1 motor.get a jumper harness.to convert to obd1. and the ussuall dpfi to mpfi.ohnestly just get a geezer.

Re: h22 swap to 91 4dr

well its going to be a street car for sure.. but i'm aiming for something both original, and turbo-able.the mpfi seems common.. and i'm not sure its going to provide the kind of power i'll looking for in the end... i want sick amounts of power in the thing... by the time its done. and i dont care what its going to cost, long as its under roughly 15K CND

if you want sick amounts of power buy an old muscle car hehe not a civic

But if you do do the swap, best of luck to you

if you want turbo dont go H22 , no room. Go GSR or LS.

Re: h22 swap to 91 4dr

if you did turbo the H22 you would probably need to extend the front end for some GOOD room for it, i dont think its worth it unless youre going to stay N/A

Re: h22 swap to 91 4dr

yea...not much space in my 4-door lol - if you have that much money why not swap a K-series engine in there? You'll get much more power than that measly H22 lol. Mmm rsx type s engine in a 91 4-door civic!! That'd be a heck of a sleeper : P I don't know if they have many parts for K swaps, but wait a bit and they should have em for the civics, or if you have money you're going to have to go the custom route. But if you're stuck on the H22, check out some accord forums and check the engine size, etc, and not only can u see their classifieds to see if they're selling one, but you'd be able to get some decent pics and see if it'd fit in the 4 door. Just my 2 and a half cents

Are you kidding me? A "measly" H22? you're kidding right? I'd go for the H22 with Y1 B16 tranny ANY day over the K series. In fact, if I ever blow my B20 turbo I'll go that route. H22 power with b16 gearing...ouch!
