idler pulley

okay, i've got a 95 saab 900se with a 4cyl turbo in it. The idler pully has frozen up twice, shreading two belts and going through two pulleys. There is obviously something else wrong with this car, any thoughts?

If you replaced to pully's, then i would suspect something along the lines of belt trac, possibly being cocked to one side, or excessive belt tension.. Other than cheap pully's that would be the only options...

Re: idler pulley

The SAAB pully on the NG 900's is notoriously bad. There is a by pass method for not using the pully at all. Go to the saabsite.com for instructions.
