idle problems
hello all well to be honest i new to all this so i wanted to c if i can get some advice. i have an 88 honda civic lx 1.5. the isle is completly screwd
up. itidle eather to fast or to slow. I have already changed the spark plugs im gonna also change the sp wires and the oxygen sensor. I took a look at the pcv valve today after l;ookin for it for so long. the was alot of black sooty stuff inside the hose that connectes tothe valve i change the valve but used the same hose it doesent look like a tight fited seal like before i tryed to remove some of the build up.anyways what can u recommend as far as the idle. i have aleady replaced the idle speed control valve aswell...... |

check your vacuum hoses and then the throttle postion sensor.

TPS is on the back of the throttle body in case you dont know.

ok try play with the idle screw, turn it up and down just alittle and see if that works, if not check all vacuum hoses for leaks, pull of iacv sensor plug and see if this stablizes the idle, if it does you need to clean the iacv by taking it off and spraying that little screen with carb cleaner. if it doesnt then take off your intake and look on the tb theres 2 holes, plug the bottom hole and see if that stablizes your idle, if it does you need to take off the fitv and screw the center back in
