Angry Rare mistake by Guiddy!

Has crippled progress on my DTM Astra!
It would seem 4 days wasn't enough time for the white to harden!
I made a perfect job of masking the yellow, was all smiley about the perfect shine, and then looked in horror as each line of masking tape removed revealed a horrible rough surface!
It seems the glue from the tape has ruined the paint surface and I cannot even polish it out!
I can rub it smooth and respray the white, but I want to make 100% sure the yellow is fully hardened, so I am going to stop this project for a while!
Warren, how long did you leave your white to harden? It didn't seem very long to me!
Any tips regarding Tamiya paint! Looks like I found this one out the hard way! Automotive paint would have hardened by now!

Oh my golly gosh, put that one in the history books Dan made a mistake

Watch out the world must be coming to an end.

Four days should have been long enough. What type tape are you using?

Ahhhhh thats a bummer! We all make mistakes! I guess the black chevrons would not help to hide the line? But then wots the point in doing it if u aint gonna do it right...right?

...I've been to scared to open this thread ....lol

After painting the white it was left for 1 week to harden. It was given 2 light coats and two heavy coats.
We had really hot sunny days here so it sat on the window sill for most of it to harden up.
I've never had any problems with the Tamiya paints so i cant really give you any tips sorry

That's very weird! Tamiya spray paints should be ready to polish and whatnot in just four days. You just had a case of bad luck...maybe white uses a different formula?

Maybe the tape had a bad reaction with the paint? You could try different masking tape in the future, or Parafilm M...

I am still mulling (or is that crying!) over this one!
I also sprayed the black on the rear bumper, and masked that with no problem!
The more I think about it, the more I am guessing using a hairdryer was the problem!
Yes it gave the yellow an unbelievable shine, but maybe the heat was the problem!
Either way, the kit isn't ruined! I just have to add a couple of coats over the white again and we are back on track!

Onto the 350Z I think as the 360 is stalled due to the crap auto paint here!!!
