Thumbs up Golf III 1997 1.6 GL Stops

26.11.2004
For over one year i have suffered with a car stopping wherer it want's. It allways happends after 5 to 10 minuts and I am not able to start it again befor another 2-3 minutes. The starter runs but the engine would not start. It may happend 1-3 times when the car has a bad day, thus it may be 14 days between the insidents. It never happends on long tours, but if you take 5 minutes breake it can happen.

The mecanics have scanned the car without finding anyting and they have tried a new coil and a distrubuter, but stil....... I have noticed several other with simular problems on this web-site.

01.12.2004:
After been at a specialist dealing with starters/eletric problems. It seems like it is a smal 20£ part in connection with engine controler system. If I had gone to a vw-store they had changed to computer unit, for a cost of 1000£.

Again, I am a happy owner of a Golf 1997 GL
