95 Grand Am-Steering Column
'95 Grand Am 3.1 automatic 101km here is my problem/problems.
High/low beams switch is getting harder to pull, howewver you can hear the click as it changes from high/low however sometimes lights will go completely out, switching back and forth will eventually get them to come on. Hazard switch- works sometimes but other times not, if I move switch I can usually get to work. I'm assuming these switches may need replacing but this vehicle is equipped with an air bag, what is the procedure for removing steering wheel without setting off airbag? Any help much appreciated. |

Re: 95 Grand Am-Steering Column
Straighten the steering and lock it (do not unlock it until the air bag is replaced), disconect the battery, wait at least two minutes, remove kick panel under steering wheel, unplug the yellow electrical connecter (yellow means airbag), now you can remove the airbag bolts from the rear of the steering wheel, handle the airbag carefully!!!

Did as you mentioned but also removed air bag fuse. Was able to change dimmer/hazard switch without removing steering wheel.
Thanks for the help. |
