92 Camaro Issues...
First post here. I just picked up a '92 Camaro RS V8 to replace the '70 VW Bug that i just blew up (long story). And this car has been sitting, immobile, for THREE YEARS. I picked it up from a friend who OWNS many car impounds in California. Its got a few issues but for the price on a running car, ($200!!!!) i cant complain.
It was broken into a while back and the steering column is busted wide open and im told i need a new column (and all that it entails: ignition switch, etc.) and will need a key made for it to match the electrical system. Again, for the price i cant complain much. But i also find myself short on cash and just spent what i had on new tires. (The old ones were bald firestones. lmao) So if anyone knows of good places (preferably in California) that i could go to get these column parts for a reasonable price and installation, plz let me know. Thx guys. |

Re: 92 Camaro Issues...
pretty much any pick your part junkyard will have the column youll need. junk the ignition lock cylender, and buy a new one, 60 bucks give or take. have the keys made, and rock out with your socks out
by the way, awesome score, and welcome to the forums.

Well thx for the responses guys. Im still checking around to see what i can do for what little cash i have. lol
I *could* hotwire it and start her up right now. But like i said, this car has been sitting for three years. So right now my priority is changing out ALL of the fluids in the car so i dont have to run all that crap through the system and risk making it even worse simply because i cant contain my wanting to take her for a drive. ![]() The oil is draining at this moment and its like a chunky syrup. *bleh* And the brake fluid is pitch black. So im gonna bleed them tomorrow if i get a chance. The transmission fluid looks ok, but i think i should change it out anyways. (Ive got the stuff, why not? lol) And regarding the key.... How do you recommend i go about getting one? Should i take it to a Chevy Service Department and have them run its computer through the line? Or is there another, *cheaper* way? haha |
