|
battery cut-off switch (as an added theft deterrent)
i am re-doing my 86 CJ-7 and thought maybe if I added a battery cut off switch with a key that it may fool a theif if I were to take it to a city or something like taht for a night. \
simple i think and may help against hot wiring when all i got on is a bikini top and a 12 gauge (gotta sleep sometime) thoughts or better ideas???" |

Outside of a good alarm system, one thought you may want to consider is a microswitch hiden somewhere in the upholstery that switches on a relay. Had a set-up once where the button was under the upholstery at the bottom of the drivers seat, and the ignition fed through the relay- with switch open a 12v flasher relay. Only way to start it was to put key in run- hold button, turn key to start. and when button was'nt held AND engine not running led would flash.

A very simple method is to hide a switch under the dash which connects to the ignition coil NEGATIVE wire. That way, even if the thieves try to "hotwire" the coil, it still won't start.
