Unhappy Critical swap problem

I have got a pretty critical problem with my swap. My right side axle will not fit into the tranny it is too small. So i tried to get a different axle and it seemed like it fit so i dropped it to da ground... well istarted it up and engaged first and let the clutch out and I hear a grinding noise and the car moves like an inch. I jack it up and started it and tried to go the wheel turned but I could stop the wheel with my hand. The grinding noise was still there. It seems like the axle is too small and the tranny just spins around the axle. Any suggestions? How do I find out what tranny I have. Please help me I am out of ideas.
