1g or 2g?

so here's the deal.
as soon as i can sell my car, which i've been trying desperately to do for the last few months with no real results, im going to buy a gsx or a tsi awd. i live where there's a lot of snow, and i love my current dsm, and can't even imagine what a turboed is like.
so here's my dilemma-
the 1g is cheaper now, generally, and apparently is easy to make a little faster than the 2g, or so ive heard.
but the 2g just looks so friggin awesome.... but its more expensive.
just curious what you guys would do if you were in my shoes and had 5k to spend on an awd dsm. thanks for the input.

Re: 1g or 2g?

2g all the way. People around hear just stare at my car. I am in love with my car. Some people buy cars that they try to make lookgood. But a 2g DSM or any DSM for that matter is just plain sexy.

Re: 1g or 2g?

I bought the 2g because it looked better. 5 years later I've finally come to accept the fact that I would have been 10 times better off with a 1g. Back when I bought my car it was 12k. Thats about 8-9k that couldnt have gone into power mods. I dont care about looks anymore. But if YOU do, then you should try your best to get a car that you will still like in a couple years time. You could go 1g now and have money left for mods and get that instant gratification, but you may regret it later. In your case I would say go with a 2g.

I have to agree. However, I really think a well pieced 1g looks damn sexy, too. Here's an example...
http://www.dsmtuners.com/gallery/sho...cat=500&page=1

That's HokieDsm's car from tuners - very sexy 1g.

yeah wow, both of those 1gs look good!

i suppose i'll have to just wait until i sell mine and then see whats availiable.

off-topic, am i correct - reading in between the lines, it seems like the 1G was the truest race-dsm, then the 2G was a lot better looking, but maybe with a few less performance parts(bov, etc), and the 3G was just completely bastardized?
