Procharger results for V6
Aight iam facing a tough dilema soon as i just finished paying for my Mustang a few days ago...Common sense tells me to dump the V6 Mustang when it turns spring and use the money to put a down payment on a 99+ Mustang GT....I was also thinking about saving up a few grand and buying a 12 PSI intercooled Procharger supercharger kit for my Mustang which supposly will give my HP rating to 200+HP...I have the brochure from Procharger and according to the chart.....the 12 PSI will boost my HP from 150 to 270??(a 120HP increase btw) is this right???
o0o0 shit..i meant to post this in the Mustang forum...mods can you please move this to the Mustang forum? |

Re: Procharger results for V6
burntrice, I have given you alot of shit in the past for your stories ect. However it seems like your starting to come around with car knowledge, so maybe ill lay off
![]() First off, although there are many v6 turner sites out there, and many fans of mustang v6's, common sense says the heritage of the mustang is in the v8. And so is the power. However if you added a supercharger to your v6, it would recieve a considerable hp increase. It would also feel alot tougher than the v6 stock, and it would be lighter (not by that much) than a v8. I still would have to recomend to you (if it is financially possible) to trade it in for a 99+ mustang. I did alot, and i mean alot, of researching before purchasing this newest car (1999 Mustang GT 5 speed), and it seemed a 99+ gt was the best bang for the buck including performance, reliability (contrary to other's beliefs), and cool factor. For my car I paid $8100.00. It is a 1999 35th anniversary edition GT 5speed with leather interior, mach audio, keyless entry, k&N filter, flowmaster mufflers. Lets not forget a 4.6l v8 rated @ 260hp. It has alil higher miles, but it is in great condition and for an awesome price. If performance is what your looking for, I would scrap the uniqueness of a v6 project, and move onto a v8. Better response to modifications, better overall power, and alot more fun. The only negative side is gas and insurance, but if you can overcome these obstacles (as I found it well worth it) then you will love your new car. |

I don't own a mustang, but i'd go with the V8 as well if you can afford it.

Re: Procharger results for V6
v8 is the way to go, i would never buy a mustang with less than 8 cylinders unless i intended to make it that way. cheaper to mod, easier to mod, responds better to mod.
you're expecting 200+ HP from a supercharger... but a 99+ GT makes more than 250 stock and around that much torque. a fox body 5.0 makes 225 hp and 300 torque stock, in a 3500 pound car.

Re: Procharger results for V6
a split port responds better to a SC then a single port for some reason so thre are a lot of nicely tuned SC pre-99's out there.

So if he spends his money right he can be a little quicker then a GT, and still have a lot of stuff he can do. |

Re: Procharger results for V6
it be way better financially if i just got the 99GT..Iam looking at a red 2001 Mustang GT with 69,000 miles on it(drove it from Kittery Maine to Boston every day for work) for 11K fully loaded...If i want to go with the supercharger option for my V-6 i have to save up at least 4....and an extra grand for installation

Re: Procharger results for V6
or you get a GT and supercharge it it'll make a hell of a lot more power than a supercharged v6, bottom line... and if he finds a GT for a good price he'll have plenty of budget.

Re: Procharger results for V6
my point was that it all depemds on what he wants, if his im is high-mid 13's the V6 could be cheaper, if he wasnts the 12's then its GT

Re: Procharger results for V6
Just go with the procharger. They are not that hard to install and you will get a 75%-80% increase in hp. That would be 270 horses. Not bad for a v6
