power brake problem?

I have a 99 Silverado. When I was doing about 45 mph and hit the brakes it seemed to lose power in the brakes. Any one else have this problem?

what do you mean? Did you slam on the brakes, or was it normal braking? Did you lose all braking? Did it feel like the brake pulsated (could you feel the pedal trying to push your foot up). Finally, did you get braking power back?

If you give a little bit more info, it would really help out in figuring the problem.

Yes it was normal brakeing, and I could kind of feel the pedal vibrating a little. It happened a couple of times, then was ok. Then happened a little later again. Only seems to happen when I'm tring to come to a complete stop.

Your ABS could be kicking on. Mine will do it alot, if I hit a bump while trying to stop. It feels like the pedal goes way in. then you feel vibration and can hear the valves opening and closing. All of this is normal. Your truck is trying to stop you in the shortest distance possible.

If you don't think that this is happening to you, I would suggest going to a local brake shop that does free inspections to see what they think. Just don't let them pressure you into anything. Just get the info, then come back to this forum and tell us the news. We can help you better from there.

Thanks alot for your time and the info. That does seem to be whats going on. This is the newest truck I've ever had, so I guess I'm not used to the ABS brake system. Just felt weird as hell thats all. Talk to you again maybe. Take it easy.
