Winterize your truck
I know that this is a little late in some area's, but I think that we should make a check list of things for every one to do to their trucks for the winter. Please add anything to this list that you feel would help others
1. Check the coolant level, and have your coolant system flushed it it hasn't been in the last 2 years. Unless the coolant you buy is extended use, then 3 years 2. change the oil, and filter. Do a tune-up, check all fluids, and grease everything. 3. blow out, or change air filter 4. check tire tread, and air pressure. Change to winter tires if you live in the snow belt. running slightly lower air pressure on ice and snow gives you better traction 5. top up the window washer, and always carry an extra bottle. 6. buy a 6 pack of gas line antifreeze, and add 1 whenever you need it or run your truck on the bottom 1/2 of the tank. Methol Hydrate is the same thing in big containers at a-lot less money. and finally use your head while driving, avoiding any visible hazard |

Re: Winterize your truck
Also, drop your engine oil grade to 5w30 from 10w30 in the winter.
Also, don't allow your tank to go below 1/2 to stop condensation. Always check your tire pressure more often in the winter. Temperature fluctuations can easily deflate your tires more than you want them to be. Don't run high octane fuel in the winter. High octane fuel burns colder which you don't need when the air temperature is low.

Re: Winterize your truck
Add extra weight in the bed over the axle. I use several big bags of bird seed and then use the seed in the spring and summer so I don't have to store sand bags.
Always carry a full charged cell phone ..

Always ground you vehicle to something metal but never on your negative battery post. If you don't take this precaustion, you may fry your engine computer.
