88 Lesabre won't start, Fuel problem
My Lesabre won't start. It will crank but not turn over. After changing the plugs and wires to no success I decided to check the fuel system. I removed the air filter and sprayed some starter fluid in it. I then started the car. It started right up but died after about 10 seconds. I assume this means that I have a fuel problem. I think I will start with the fuel filter and if that doesn't work then I will look into the fuel pump. Does anyone have any other suggestions to try first? Any suggestions and changing the fuel filter or pump? I have an 88 with 160K on it. It has a V6 3800 motor.
Thanks, Andy |

I would try taking off the coil pack and taking it to an auto parts store and have it tested. I took mine to auto zone. Everthing inside was completely melted. I would try that first, its free. Don't do like me and do a $285 fuel system overhaul. Hope this helps!

But if it is the coil pack I don't see how the addition of starter fluid to the intake would allow the car to start. The starter fluid doesn't improve the spark at all it just "stands in" for the fuel that doesn't appear to be getting to the motor.
