H22 motor w/ h23 trans

Hey everyone. Its been awhile since I posted on here. I finally got a new motor after about 3 months of waiting, (if anyone recalls I hit a puddle that I could not avoid and Hydrolocked my h23). It came with the h22 trans, but I have read on here in the past that there was some people running a h23 trans on there motor. I know the one guy on here that used to help me out alot runs it. He has a black 4th gen with a supra style wing (sorry I forgot your name). So, since I know he did it I am hoping he replies to this post or anyone that can help for that matter. Im just curious if theres any advantages in using the h23 trans on the h22 motor. Does it help with your q/t mile time and does it take away from your higer revs in vtec in any way?> What should I do?
Thanks for any help

h23 wired for vtec?

I read on here a few months back that the h23 wiring harness was already run for vtec. I even seen the picture someone had on this site showing where the wire was under the hood. I think it was a blue wire. Well, I have a complete h22 swap ready to go in and if i dont have to use the h22 harness i wont. what do I have to do in order to use the h23 harness? Is the wire already run to the ecu? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all!!!!!

His name is AcesHigh

Anyway, I believe the h23 has only slightly different ratios from the h22. (I forgot if they were shorter or longer) but the difference is almost negligible.

If using the h23 tranny will save you money, then I guess go ahead and use it.

H22 and H23 trannies bolt up the same and are interchangeable.

h23 2 h22 any ac problems?

I was woundering if I would have to recharge my A/C system after doing the swap from my h23 to the h22? Someone told me I would have to. Also Do you really gain alot of power from taking your A/C out all together?? O and 1 last thing. Can I used my h23 radiator on my h22 motor? Hopefully I can untill I upgrade to a KOYO. Thanks!!!!!!!!!

it's not necessary to start several consecutive new threads for every question you have regarding a similar topic. i have merged your recent threads into this one thread. thank you.

here is aceshigh's post about the swap (with photos) it should answer most of your questions.

i doubt it. I used the h23's transmission with the jdm h22 in my lude, because i didn't want to pay for another tranny however. I can rev to limit.

you can use the "axles" - i answered that in another thread you posted about the same thing.

trust me - you don't want to use another harness - that's way more work then what is needed... use your existing h23's harness. If your car is a 93+ then yes - it is pre-wired for vtec so all you have to do is extend (splice) the wires to their destinations (well documented with photos in aceshigh's doc). if your car is a 92, you are going to have to manually run 2 wires thru the firewall - it's not hard - and is also well documented in acehigh's doc.

if you're wondering why people aren't responding to your post - it's because the questions you are asking are all very well documented on this site, just try a search - it's that function at the top right of the forum - sometimes you have to read to find the information - it sucks - but then again the information is free and you don't have to wait to get it (:

H22A > H23A tranny. The H22A has superior gearing to the H23A, and has the same final drive (so highway cruising mileage should be roughly the same). I ran the H23A tranny because I was cheap and did not buy the complete trans/engine/ecu package.
