1997 528i wiper system problem

HELP...Just bought a 97 BMW 528 one month ago and have encountered my first (hopefully last) out of the blue problem...it was raining quite hard in toronto last night and i had my wipers on...the wipers (driver and passeneger) froze in the upright position...i got out and was able to put down the passenger side wiper manually but the drivers side would not move...when i turned the car off and back on again only the drivers side wiper began working...anyone have any idea on what the problem might be?...i checked the fuses and they are O.K...any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just had the wiper linkage replaced ($500 parts&labour)...now the remote keyless entry does not work properly...I can unlock the doors and trunk with the remote but the remote will not lock the doors...the only way to lock the doors is to manually use the key in the drivers door...anyone know what I might try to correct the problem...THANK-YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP.

I'm having the same exact problem with my 98 528i. I can only unlock doors and trunk, but can't lock them, some days it works, others it doesn't. my other key works fine, so it's gotta be something with the key itself.....
