Re: daily driver turbo

buddy of mine was running 18psi on his daily driven talon, then he blew the motor, but thats because hes an idiot and ran 18psi on a stock bottom end. If its tuned right and its dependable, meaning you do all the math and its matched good for the engine and the other components you are running. Do all that you wont have any problems. There are alot of factory turboed cars.

Re: daily driver turbo

yeah ull hear it if your pushing to the point where its making alot of pressure. Alot of cars blow off at like 3-4k i think. Theres this guy around here with a 5th gen coupe turboed and he shifts at like 2.5-3k and you hear his blow off valve.

Re: daily driver turbo

Well, if you can hear the bov at 3-4k, in 5th gear 3k is 65, 4k is about 82 for me. So I'll say it might affect you.

Re: daily driver turbo

When ever your turbo spools and you let off the gas the BOV will sound. So let say your turbo spools at 3000 RPMs if you let off the gas under acceleration it will make the sound. If you let off the gas in the same car at 2500 rpms you will not hear it. BOV works on vacuum a sudden vacuum drop will open the BOV and then the excess charge(boost) will vent through the BOV port.

Re: daily driver turbo

ahh i see, so it's not when you shift but when you let off the gas above the spool rpm. The rpms go down when you shift gears, so that's why you hear it then. I learn lots on the forum

WRONG.....3000 would be when ur turbo is fully spooled....turbos spool throughout the revs....if u hear the turbo whisteling and ur boost gauge is over 0psi...then u will hear the bov if it doesnt have a dump tube. FOR EXAMPLE...one of my buddies had a 95 civic ls swap turboed....when i drove it u couldnt shift without hearing it...seriously at 1500 ud hear it if u were in 2nd gear or higher
