AOD tranny replacement gone not good, Help Please!!!I have an 88 bronco 4x4 with a 30

I have an 88 bronco 4x4 with a 302, and just put in a freshly rebuilt AOD transmission and it still won't move. I made sure the converter was in all the way before it was put together. Park works but the others are just freewheel, like the transmission is not engaging. I put in 8.5 quarts of ATF and it is showing on the dipstick that it is way too full; there is supposed to be 12.3 quarts. Also on a somewhat related note the transfer case is bound up but I am almost positive that it is in 2h. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Matt Eastman

i replaced the aod trans by a c4 because i had a lot of problems with them, did you fill the converter with oil before assembly it?
try to add an additive thats free the valves, the aod valves are very delicate, the most insignificant dust clog them

Since you said the fluid is way to high on the dipstick with only 8.5 quarts of fluid, It sounds like the pump is not picking up any fluid. The fluid level should have dropped once you started it up, filling the torque converter. No fluid pick can be caused by a number of things, missing filter, wrong filter (4X4 has a deeper pick up), bad pump, etc. This should give you a place to start checking

you didn't get the torque converter all the way in you might have thought you did and it bolted up fine but i had the same problem and the two groves only about a quarter inch deep didn't seat into the pump and therefore the pump is not pumping fluid into the torque converter and there is a good chance now that you have blown the oil pump in it already good luck

I have a buddy with a C-4 trans for sale out of a 79 bronco. If interested I could further inquire for you.
