High speed brake failure
I recently changed the rotors and brake pads on my 1994 Blazer s-10 and everything works fine while driving at slow speeds around town. But when braking at high speeds (like an off ramp on the interstate) the brakes will feel as if they suddenly fail but then will come back to normal after a few seconds. This only occurs when I am braking at speeds over 60 mph. When the brakes are engaged they will function normally at first and then the pedal will sink and it feels as if the brakes go out and they mak an odd noise, then after 2-3 seconds the brakes will re-engage and the pdeal will feel normal again. Since noticing this I have taken it to a mechanic who replaced the calipers and bleed the brake fluid, but the problem still exists. Upon taking it back the mechanic adjusted the rear brakes but that still did not cure the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: High speed brake failure
I'm just gonna pull this out of the south end of a north bound horse but does this noise sound as if the ABS is functioning? The year of your truck makes me wonder.

I'm not sure what it sounds like when ABS fails, so I couldn't tell you for sure. It sounds like all of a sudden there is a lot more road noise and then after a few seconds it goes away. Do 1994 Blazers have a problem with the ABS or is just because it getting old?
