I think heater core

Hi all,
I have a 91 PA and recently changed the heatercore (about 6 weeks ago) since then the coolant low has been on. I flushed the coolant system about 4 weeks ago and mixed properly for winter (about 60/40 antifreeze and the reservoir is staying full but the dummy light for coolant wont go off. Did i forget to hook something up or what? it is almost like the perfect brake job where the antilock dummy light stays on thx for all help in advance.

Re: I think heater core

again, hi,

i had the same problem with the light, its that coolant level sensor on the radiator to the left if you stand in front of the car.. i heard it goes bad sometimes, mine did anyways.. so i asked around and what i got for answers is : replace it... it costs about 20$ at the dealer..

first unplug it, and check if it still lights up. as i can remember, it should NOT.. if still does then you may have anotyher electrical trouble.. but in reality it should stop the light from being on... so change it..

and if by some wicked not understand-able way it would still be on, open the dash and take out the bulb... you don't need it anyway...just like the ABS..i took out my idiot light bulb out.. i hate ABS..exept on a porsche... where it is up it's task.. not a GM product has a good ABS in my opinion and they all break and cost a fortune.. and when they work it takes more time- distance to stop the car... so..

Re: I think heater core

Same problem with my 87 Park Avenue. The light was on most of the time until I checked the reservoir, then it would go off for a day or 2. I didn't have to add any more anti-freeze or anything but for some reason the light would go out after doing that, but only for a few days, then it was on again.

I guess it's just a weird little quirk or something...Maybe the level sensor or whatever gets faulty and doesn't always gauge the amount of fluid correctly...

If the light continues to glow try a bit of black electrical tape over it....That will do the trick everytime....LOL....

Good Luck
